Imagined Thoughts That Might Have Been Going Through Selena Gomez’s Head Before She Tripped + Landed On Her Arse During Last Thursday’s Concert

Selena Gomez in concert fall 2013

Oh, Selena Gomez. Don’t worry—bouts of clumsiness happen to the best of us.

Selena, who is midway through her Stars Dance world tour, had a little bit of an “oops” moment during last Thursday’s concert in Fairfax, VA: While she was rocking out to her new single, “Slow Down,” she took a stumble and landed right on her arse. Ouch!

Of course someone filmed it, and of course the footage went viral; the fall happens at the 3:28 mark:

What do you think might have been going through Selena’s head in the moments leading up to her stumble? We’ve got some ideas. Here’s what we imagine her inner monologue might have been like:

“Okay, Selena—time for another pre-show pep talk. Here that out there? That’s for all for you. Now go rock it, girl!”

“I hope there are no epileptics in the audience. Did we remember to post seizure warnings about the use of strobes? Oh, man, we’re going to be in SO MUCH TROUBLE if we didn’t…”

“Is there a particular reason we thought all this fringe was a good idea? Does it look goofy? Whatever; just go with it.”

“Although maybe this hip action is a little too Bring It On. Oooh, idea: Movie night with the girls on my next day off!”

“Okay, let’s hit the runway. See, Miley? Not everyone needs a foam finger to make the crowd go wild!”

“Ugh. I cannot see through this curtain of hair. Note to self: Ask stylist if fans would go nuts if I chopped it all off.”

“Back to the stage. Home stretch. You’ve got this, Selena! Now jump! Jump! JUMP! J—AGH!”

It looks like she kind of tried to play it all, “I TOTALLY meant to do that! Hi, fans! How are you?” But hey, at least she just got right back up and kept going. Clearly she is of the Beyonce school of thought when it comes to performing—that is, “KEEP GOING NO MATTER WHAT. You fell down? Get up! Your hair got caught in something? Keep singing! The world is ending and the apocalypse is here? DON’T STOP FOR ANYTHING!”

The Stars Dance tour kicked off on August 14 in Vancouver; she plays the Barclay Center in New York tonight before heading to Philadelphia on the 18th. She’ll finally wrap the whole thing up on December 14 in Boston. Tickets are still available at a number of dates, so check out her website for more info.
